jewellery design

German born, London trained, Kristina Brenke migrated to Australia 10 years ago.Holding primary positions designing and manufacturing for prominent Sydney jewellers prior to setting up her own studio, she has quickly attracted a loyal and enthusiastic following from a broad spectrum of clients.

“My jewellery is highly sculptural, yet must be worn easily and I enjoy this challenge as it pushes my creativity and imagination further. I do not entirely plan a piece before I make it - often I design as I work, allowing the making process to define the design.”

During her 15 years of industry experience, Brenke has researched and handled jewellery from many periods and cultures. Her main inspiration however, does not lie here but in the smallest of details that she observes in the world around her:

“It is the furl of a ruffle, a snatch of lace, a ceremonial carving or a painting in miniature that fascinates me; the small almost invisible details which capture my attention.”

Most significantly, she is a collector: seedpods and seashells, vintage glass beads and French ribbon. One of these finds has the potential to inspire an entire range - more simply she likes to include them to diversify and individualise her work.

It is this distinctive fusion of tribal and whimsy that identifies her highly sought after and innovative style.
